There has been a fund-raising opportunity presented to the Pearland Band Boosters.  I would like to see in what way of interest we may have from our parents to pursue. The food service company of the Toyota Center food has emailed us to see if we would be interested in running a concession stand for up coming events.

We would have to be licensed to sell alcohol at the cost of $15.00 per person.  This license would be for 2 years.  If we had at least 15 people to train they could come to the school to do it. Anyone 18 or older can work the booth only 21 yrs or older can sell the alcohol.

How it works is that we would have to be at the Toyota Center by 5:10 p.m. if it was a evening basketball game or Concert.  They provide us with the red T-shirt, hat.  We would have to wear black pants.  We would run the concession stand and at the end of the night they come and count the money and the inventory.  We are responsible for all.  Then we are paid a % of the total.

The more events we work the more commission we would receive.  It takes for most large stands 15 workers.  There are some smaller stands that take 5 workers what I understand.

Darrell Cherry works contract for the company as security, he says the groups do bring in a lot of money but he does say the down fall to working there is the parking.  He says it can be expensive or hard to find. I think if we carpool that could help all involved.  Also, if you think you will see any part of the games you are wrong.  The concessions are outside in the hallway of the arena.

He also suggested that we only do the Rocket's games and the concerts because they are well attended by fans.  The more fans the more money we could make.

From the one band site that I would like to forward it shows on average of $1000.00 per night the least they made was $500.00.  I am not sure what kind of event that was though. I asked and they said that we would work like 4 1/2 -5 hours.

The great part of the offer is that we do not have to commit to a particular number of events so we can try it and if we do not like it we do not have to do it again.

We had an executive board meeting last night. After the emails we got  on the fundraiser at Toyota Center, we have decided to go ahead and do one event to try it out.  We have to be TABC certified at the cost of $20.00 per person.  This would be refunded if you work the event.  You can do the training in your own home online.  It takes aprox. 4 hours to do the training.  We have been given the opprotunity for Tara Pogue to come to Pearland and and give us the training that is required if we have 15 people that are committed to come.  She can come on a Sat morning but those fill up very quickly likewise for Tuesday evenings.  If it would be possible for most of you, I think if we can do it on a Thursday evening that was it does not use up a Sat. morning when many of us are doing activities with our families.  That is just an idea. After we are trained then we must pick the game.  We have to be at the Toyota Center  by 5:15p.m.unless noted

They will provide the red Tshirts and hats that are required to work.  We must wear black pants.
